Description
A lithium soap thickened, light viscosity, synthetic hydrocarbon grease originally intended for low voltage electrical switch contacts but is also suitable for sliding surfaces, bearings and gear trains.
A thin coating of Rheolube 375 will protect electrical contacts in a wide range of switch designs. This lubricant will extend the operating life and improve performance of electrical switches. 375 will prevent environmental and galvanic corrosion on switch contacts. Even in mild environments, metal oxides can gradually guild up in pores on contact surfaces over time and they can impede current flow. Non-noble contact surfaces and switches made of dissimilar metals are especially susceptible to moisture, oxygen and corrosive gases; even noble metal plating is at risk if it’s worn or porous.
Rheolube 375 also minimises wear, especially on sliding low voltage electrical contacts wish see repetitive cycling or arc damage, two common causes of failures. Though evidence suggests lubricants change or reduce arc patterns, the lubricant’s real job on sliding contacts is to separate the surfaces during operation and keep debris out of the contact area; otherwise the microscopic wear particles oxidise quickly, resulting in the formation of insulators at the connection interface. Build up of this oxide grit then further accelerates wear. In general, hydrocarbon lubricants work best at wear prevention because their molecular structur is more rigid than other base oils. Rheolube 375 strikes a balance between preventing wear and maintaining electrical continuity for low voltage switch designs.
Recommended service temperature range is -54 to 125 C
